The Uyghur American Association (UAA) commemorates the 26th anniversary of the Ghulja Massacre that took place on February 5, 1997. On this solemn day, we remember the innocent lives lost in the tragedy and pay our respects to the families of the victims.

The Uyghur American Association (UAA) is encouraged by the unanimous passage of Motion 62 in the Canadian Parliament. This motion, introduced by Canadian MP Sameer Zuberi, requests leveraging the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship portion of Canada’s Refugee and Humanitarian Resettlement Program to expedite the resettlement of 10,000 Uyghurs over a period of two years.
Official Candidate Requirements and Guidelines from UAA’s Election Committee
The Uyghur American Association is glad to announce the formation of our Election Committee to regulate and maintain a fair election for it’s board members. The Election Committee has been ready to undertake new responsibilities and has established a set of guidelines determining the eligibility of candidates.
Statement on Speaker Pelosi and the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act
UAA is glad to announce that we have begun our advocacy efforts for these upcoming months as we connect with our Congressional Representatives on the urgent need of passing the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (H. R. 1155). We call upon Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the House of Representatives to come together and pass this act as soon as possible.
Statement on State Department’s Genocide Determination
The Uyghur American Association (UAA) expresses deep gratitude to the U.S. Department of State and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for officially determining that the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) campaign of mass internment, forced labor, and forced sterilization against millions of Uyghurs and others in East Turkistan (Xinjiang) indeed constitutes “genocide” and “crimes against humanity.”
CBP Regional Cotton Ban
Following this order, all cotton and tomato products produced in East Turkistan will be prohibited from entering the U.S. The UAA appeals to U.S. allies to take similar, robust actions that hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for their unspeakable crimes.
