The Uyghur American Association (UAA) has been advocating for human rights, freedom, and justice, and it has been a leading voice for the oppressed Uyghur people in East Turkistan since 1998. In this mission, the UAA has collaborated with the Uyghur Human Rights Project and the World Uyghur Congress, advocating peacefully and contributing to advancing human rights and justice. We are deeply saddened by the reports of sexual misconduct involving individuals from these organizations named in the NOTUS article released on May 10, 2024.
The UAA unequivocally condemns all forms of sexual harassment. On behalf of the Uyghur American community, the UAA calls for an independent investigation into these allegations to ensure accountability for any wrongdoing and protection for any victims. We urge partner organizations to work diligently to address this important issue promptly to ensure accountability and justice so that the fight against China's genocide against Uyghurs will not be hampered.
