Statement on COVID-19 PandemicMarch 25, 2020
We WILL prevail! This is the time for love and solidarity
The Uyghur American Association (UAA) President and Board of Directors would like to extend our deepest thoughts and prayers for the health, safety, and wellbeing of you and your families during these trying times. We send our heartfelt gratitude to our healthcare workers, grocery store employees, and all those fighting tirelessly to ensure our collective safety in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In difficult times like these, we are inspired by leaders in our community and country who have worked selflessly to serve others in the face of extraordinary challenges. We honor the courageous men and women who continue to ensure that the voices of our Uyghur brothers and sisters are heard outside of the largest open-air prison in the world, East Turkistan (Xinjiang). The unbelievable resilience and will of our people, languishing under the tyrannical rule of the Chinese Community Party, motivates all of us to continue fighting for our freedom, justice, and dignity.
Despite COVID-19, our team continues to serve not only the Uyghur-American community, but Uyghur communities around the world. Though we are working from home, we remain available to anyone in need.
While this terrifying pandemic plagues the global community, we must not forget to take care of ourselves, our loved ones, and each other. If we all commit to following the advice of our respected scientists and healthcare professionals , we WILL overcome this pandemic. When we do, we will have a renewed sense of our mission to liberate our people from the shackles of Chinese Communist Party rule.
