Volunteer Positions:

*Positions and duties can be customized to fit interns’ interests and skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Current college/university student (exceptional high school students who have completed their junior year will be considered)
  • Laptop, internet, and phone access
  • Ability to commit to a regular schedule throughout the duration of the internship
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and other basic programs/software
  • Advanced proficiency in English
    • Proficiency in Uyghur, Chinese, Russian, Turkish, and other foreign languages skills is desired

Hours:

  • Full-time and part-time positions available
    • Part-time positions require commitment of ≥ 10 hours/week

Sample Duties:

  • Assist with the creation and dissemination of organizational marketing and communications materials
  • Write press releases, reports, briefs, and blog posts for website and other platforms
  • Create graphics and other content for use on website and social media
  • Develop a Uyghur youth engagement platform with fun and meaningful activities
  • Engage various organizations and groups (e.g. community groups, college clubs, congregations, etc.) to raise awareness of the Uyghur human rights
  • Develop a database of media contacts
  • Conduct research on human rights violations committed by the Chinese government against the Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan
  • Summarize reports, bills, and other materials for community distribution
  • Support UAA’s advocacy work through meetings with congressional staff, advocacy trainings, and other tasks
